Manchester United are reportedly planning a loan offer for Barcelona star Ousmane Dembele - but the Red Devils may want to pay close attention to his fitness.

Dembele has struggled at times at the Nou Camp since joining Barca from Borussia Dortmund back in 2017 for a mammoth £125m.

He was recently out of action for more than 190 days with a hamstring problem but that’s not the only injury issue he has had.

According to transfermarkt, Dembele has missed 81 Barcelona games since joining due to different injuries.

Hamstrings have been an issue with the Frenchman suffering one just a month into his first season at the Nou Camp, keeping him out for 20 games.

Just two weeks after retuning to action, he was kept out for seven more games following a torn muscle bundle.

Dembele then had almost a year injury-free before a dreadful 2019 when it comes to pain and knocks.

It started with an ankle injury that kept him on the sidelines for a couple of weeks before another torn muscle bundle.

Then came two hamstring injuries, either side of the summer, with a muscle injury in September keeping him out for another match.

He ended 2019 in the medical room too, missing 15 matches with a torn muscle bundle.

And it didn’t get much better in 2020 with his hamstring causing him to miss 19 matches over six months.

Manchester United hero Darren Fletcher has warned of the risk his former club face if they sign Dembele.

He said: “I think Ousmane Dembele’s a right-winger, a position they are finally identifying. Barcelona purchased him for £100m or something like that.

“I think a loan deal would suit United, and probably both parties, I think he needs a fresh challenge, coming to a massive club like Manchester United.

“It comes with its risks – his injury record is not great over the last few seasons – I think he only made five league appearances last season, but he’s a talented player.

“It’s a chance to showcase himself, get opportunities, get fit and potentially look for a transfer down the line, but I wouldn’t say they’ve got to sign him because of his injury record, and he has tendencies to be late a lot of the time judging by reports.”
