Several Manchester United stars have voiced their disappointment at the treatment of outcasted goalkeeper Sergio Romero, according to reports.
Romero, 33, has fallen out of favour at Old Trafford following the return of Dean Henderson from his successful loan spell at Sheffield United.
The 23-year-old, who excelled in his brief stint at Bramall Lane last term, will battle it out with David de Gea for the No.1 spot this season after being brought into the fold by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
And with Henderson and De Gea set to be rotated in Premier League, Champions League and Carabao Cup fixtures, Romero is only like to receive first-team football if one of them sustains an injury.
The Argentine shot-stopper has failed to make it into United’s Champions League squad, with Solskjaer instead naming 37-year-old Lee Grant as his third choice due to his homegrown status.
According to ESPN, Romero’s omission has led to a number of United players expressing their frustration to club officials over the way he is being treated.
Many of them feel he has been unfairly frozen out by Solskjaer after five years of service, having joined from Sampdoria back in 2015.
Romero, who has one year left on his United contract, failed to secure a move away from Old Trafford on deadline day despite reported interest from Everton.
It is believed the Toffees were unwilling to match United’s asking price, meaning they instead opted to sign Swedish star Robin Olsen on a season-long loan from Roma.
And after her husband’s attempt to leave the Red Devils proved unsuccessful, Romero’s wife Eliana Guercio posted an emotional message on Instagram.

Guercio wrote: “It is a very sad day because he desired the chance to go to another club. He has worked hard every day for this, because he gives his all for United and I think that his chances of playing for United have gone down.
“This doesn't sound right to me. It doesn't appear honest or professional or serious that they have to let him go. I am very sad because of this.”
