Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has changed Manchester United ’s pre-match plans at Old Trafford after failing to win in their last four home outings.

United are set to lock horns with top-four rivals Chelsea in the Premier League this evening, with new striker Edinson Cavani in line to make his long-awaited debut.

Solskjaer will be hoping to record a first home win of the season after suffering two defeats against Crystal Palace and Tottenham, which plunged his future as manager of the club into serious doubt.

The Red Devils have turned a corner of late, nevertheless, thrashing Newcastle 4-1 at St James’ Park last weekend before earning a famous 2-1 victory away at Paris St-Germain this week.

Manchester United have not won in their last four outings at Old Trafford

Though ahead of tonight’s crucial showdown with Chelsea at Old Trafford, Solskjaer has brought his players back to their favoured pre-match base of The Lowry Hotel.

United stars have not stayed at the hotel since the eve of their 2-1 win over Manchester City on March 8, with Solskjaer instead allowing them to report to Old Trafford separately for home games.

However, that arrangement has come to an end following a torrid run of four home matches without a win.

As well as coming unstuck in recent outings against Palace and Spurs, Solskjaer’s men were held to draws against West Ham and Southampton at the end of last season.

Their last win at Old Trafford came in a Europa League clash with LASK at the start of August.

When quizzed on United’s recent Old Trafford woes, Solskjaer said at his pre-match press conference: “We need to address our home form. We need to look at how we prepare maybe.

“It’s maybe something I can deal with. The whole lockdown period has made us do things differently at home. We might have to do it a different way.”
