Manchester United are in no rush to meet Borussia Dortmund ’s August 10 deadline to sign Jadon Sancho, with talks ongoing over a potential move for the England ace.

Reports suggest United have reached an “initial agreement” with Dortmund over Sancho, who registered 20 goals and as many assists for the German club this season.

Ed Woodward is looking to complete a similar deal to the one that brought Bruno Fernandes to Old Trafford in January, which would see them pay a lower fee upfront along with performance-related add-ons.

Dortmund are said to have set an August 10 deadline for Sancho’s future to be resolved, as manager Lucien Favre wants to know which players will be staying on board for the 2020/21 campaign.

But according to the Manchester Evening News , United are in no hurry to meet that deadline as they hold significant leverage over their Bundesliga counterparts - who are still likely to accept a deal after that date if someone meets their £100million asking price.

Woodward and co are keen to drive the initial base fee down as low as possible, while including a series of performance related add-ons.

That would see the club take a smaller hit on their summer transfer budget, but also they can claim victory by quoting the overall value of the deal when announcing it.

It is believed United will fork out an initial £60million to prise Sancho away from Dortmund, meaning they will have to stump up between £30million and £40million in add-ons.

Red Devils legend Ryan Giggs wants to see the youngster join his former side this summer, while also tipping Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish as another potential signing.

Speaking on the Webby and O'Neill Youtube channel, Giggs said: "Two good players. I think the thing with Grealish is he's obviously used to the Premier League and doesn't need to adapt to it so that's good.

"Sancho is quick, direct but also an intelligent player. What I like about him is when he gets into those areas with the final ball, he doesn't panic.

"They are two signings that may be available and if we're able to get them, I would go and get them."
