Manchester United look set to miss out on Jadon Sancho this summer.

The Red Devils were told on August 10 they had missed the boat on the England international, despite the transfer window staying open until October 5.

Borussia Dortmund have been in no mood to sell Sancho this summer, subsequently demanding £108m for his signature in recent months.

It's been reported United wanted to do a deal late in the window, putting pressure on the German club to sell in the final few days for a lower value.

However, it looks like Ed Woodward and co's gamble is set to see them miss out on the player altogether.

And Dortmund could even raise the price even further.

“Been told today there is no prospect of #bvb lowering their valuation of Jadon Sancho, which is believed to be around 120 million euros, and there is even a possibility that they may ask for more," tweeted Bundesliga expert Kevin Hatchard.

“As I’ve said for weeks, if #mufc strategy is to pressure Dortmund, it’s failing.”

United continue to be linked with other, cheaper alternatives this summer, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer desperate to secure a right-sided attacker.

Borussia Dortmund's Jadon Sancho is Manchester United's No.1 target this summer.

The Red Devils may be forced to secure a short-term loan deal and revisit their Sancho interest next summer.

And there are other options on the table.

“Never say never. But our understanding now is that it is more unlikely than likely. Manchester United are not willing to meet the £108m valuation that Borussia Dortmund have,” said Sky Sports transfer man Dharmesh Sheth.

“The reason I say never say never is because despite the fact that United have made it clear they are looking at alternatives. The likes of Douglas Costa at Juventus and Ivan Perisic at Inter Milan and Kingsley Coman.

“The one thing that has not come across is that they are not pursuing Sancho anymore.

"That has not been relayed to us in any shape or form. They have said they are looking at alternatives, but they haven’t said they have given up on Sancho.”
