Luke Shaw wants Manchester United to make more transfers this summer, even though it could mean he loses his place.
Shaw started at left-back as United were beaten by Crystal Palace in their Premier League opener on Saturday evening.
The Red Devils have made just one signing this summer, bringing Donny van de Beek in from Ajax, though are believed to be close to signing Alex Telles.
Porto star Telles would likely slot straight into Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side, potentially replacing Shaw at left-back.
Though the former Southampton star has urged the Red Devils board to be active with the transfer deadline three weeks away.
“We have a very good group, but personally I think we need more players to strengthen the squad,” said Shaw. "It can give us a boost.
“When you look around at how other teams are strengthening their teams, then we must also do it to keep up with the others.
“The pre-season we’ve had together is not the way it should have been. We’ve had a week all together.
“We haven’t been able to prepare in the way we wanted and that’s not an excuse, because we have the quality of players to be able to win games like this, but we weren’t up to it.”
Jadon Sancho has been regularly linked with a move to Old Trafford this summer but it has not come to fruition yet.
Solskjaer said: "We can play so much better than today.
