Mason Greenwood has been urged to avoid going down the same path as Adnan Januzaj.

It comes after a sparkling performance against Brighton where he scored and grabbed an assist to help Manchester United win 3-0.

The 18-year-old has taken the club by storm and is the third highest goalscorer behind Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial.

But Red Devils legend Gary Neville has a word of warning for the young striker, who has seen a number of talented prospects come and go.

He said: “We’ve seen over the last few years United have brought through Marcus Rashford.

"But if you remember Januzaj, so much was expected of him.

Mason Greenwood opened the scoring and was arguably United's brightest spark on the south coast

"Make sure you focus, keep your feet on the ground, work hard. He’s got all the attributes and talent, he’s really exciting.”

Januzaj was another youngster that exploded onto the scene at Old Trafford, netting twice against Sunderland on his Premier League debut.

Meanwhile,Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has poured praise onto Greenwood following his performance against Brighton.

"The boys played some exceptional stuff," he said.

"Mason's first goal was brilliant and he played fantastically. He's a special kid, we know when he gets faced up he looks dangerous. His link up play was great today.

"He's got a knack of that, he can go inside or outside, he is developing into a fine player.

"We know we have pace and we want to counter quickly, it was a fantastic goal [the third goal], we are very happy with it.

"I don't care about making a statement, I know we are a good team. We will recover and then focus on the next one."
