Mauricio Pochettino has been linked with a host of clubs throughout Europe and beyond, but is still yet to return to management.

He was fired by Tottenham Hotspur last November after a spell of poor results and a disappointing start to the season, with Jose Mourinho coming in as his replacement.

After his dismissal, he was placed on gardening leave, meaning any team interested in hiring him would have to pay a fee to Tottenham.

As a result, no teams came forward, leaving Pochettino on the sidelines of management.

However, in recent weeks he has been linked with a return to management.

Here are the jobs he’s been linked with, and an assessment of how likely each role is.

Manchester United – 9/10

Manchester United is likely to be his next managerial role.

Pochettino has been linked with United for some time now, having been tipped to take over from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The Norwegian boss was close to being fired back in January, and was reportedly on the verge of being dismissed before results improved.

Now, he is teetering on the verge again, with reports even suggesting United have reached out to Pochettino over his availability.

Despite United turning their form around again with a win over Everton, Pochettino is still linked, and is widely regarded to be the next man to take to the dugout at Old Trafford.

Manchester City – 6/10

Manchester City are in a tough situation regarding their manager at the moment.

Pep Guardiola is out of contract next summer, and is yet to ink an extension.

He has been tipped to walk away from the club next summer, leaving City facing the prospect of having to look for a new manager next season.

If Guardiola is to leave, City will likely look to pip their cross-Manchester rivals to Pochettino.

Real Madrid – 7/10

Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has been tipped to lose his job after a poor start to the season.

They were battered by Valencia before the international break in a 4-1 defeat in the latest poor result for Los Blancos.

Pochettino has been linked with a move to Madrid in the past, and will likely be one of the names at the top of their list if they do part ways with the club legend.

Real Betis – 3/10

Pochettino has been tentatively linked with a move to Real Betis this season, with the La Liga side unhappy with current boss Gaizka Garitano.

However, his wage demands would likely be too much for Betis to afford, and it seems they wouldn’t be able to provide him with the transfer kitty he would require.

Barcelona – 2/10

Barcelona have made an indifferent start to the season under new boss Ronald Koeman.

The club is in turmoil after a disastrous summer, and are now facing presidential elections.

Reports suggest numerous candidates want Pochettino to take over from Koeman, and could look to approach him if they win.

But club legend Xavi seems a much more likely candidate.

Chelsea – 1/10

Reports even suggest Pochettino has been looking at the situation at Chelsea with an eye to taking over in the future.

However, Stamford Bridge officials are committed to Frank Lampard, and it is extremely unlikely that they will part ways with him and hire Pochettino any time soon.
