Wolves captain Conor Coady has confirmed that Raul Jimenez is on the road to recovery following his sickening clash with David Luiz.

The Mexican ace needed lengthy treatment following the blow early on in the Premier League encounter with Arsenal.

Wolves went on to win 2-1 with Sky Sports reporting that Jimenez was rushed to hospital and then conscious and responding to treatment.

And Coady confirmed the positive news while sending best wishes to Luiz, who battled on before being substituted at half-time.

“We didn’t like it when it happened, it was something you knew straight away,” Coady said.

“We hope David Luiz is OK as well, because it was a horrible clash of heads. It happens in football but you don’t like to see it, I think both sets of players went out and then played properly, did it right.

“It was a tough thing that happened but we just hope and pray everything is OK because that’s the one thing we’re thinking about right now.

“I was at the front just behind him so I jumped with him as well and you heard it, and as he dropped, he was just on his side.

“I think it was important we kept him on his side as well and get the doctors on, but it’s something we never want to see with our team-mate or with anybody in the Premier League.

“I hope and I pray that everything’s OK, because that’s the one thing that matters today. We got a fantastic result but the one thing that matters is making sure that Raul and David Luiz are both OK.

“He [Jimenez] is in the hospital and by all accounts he’s awake and breathing. That’s the one thing we’re looking at.

“I don’t know too much, I’ve not been there, but the first thing we asked when we went in there is how’s Raul.

“People’s health and heads and bodies come more to the forefront in these situations.”

Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo added: "Raul Jimenez is doing a scan now. He's conscious. He's OK inside the gravity of the problem.

"You start hearing code red [at the time]. It's serious. It was a bad moment for everybody.

“You see panic in their [medical staff] eyes and you start thinking how is he? We are worried.

"He speaks, he's aware. We have to have a proper assessment. He's in good hands."
