Tanguy Ndombele reportedly wants to join Inter Milan - but Tottenham are not looking to get rid of the midfielder just yet.

The Italians are ready to offer the Frenchman an escape route out of north London after a miserable first season at the club.

Ndombele has struggled to adapt to life in the Premier League since his club-record transfer from Lyon 13 months ago.

Form and fitness restricted the Frenchman to just 12 Premier League starts and he failed to impress new boss Jose Mourinho, missing the final three matches of the season with a hamstring strain.

And recent reports have suggested Inter boss Antonio Conte could try and tempt Spurs into a swap deal for defender Milan Skriniar.

Jose Mourinho does not want to lose Tanguy Ndombele yet

The Slovakia defender could be seen as a potential replacement for Jan Vertonghen after the Belgium defender quit Spurs on a free this month with his contract at an end.

But, according to The Mirror, Tottenham are not ready to completely give up hope on Ndombele yet.

Several other players have struggled in their first season in the English top-flight and then gone on to be a huge success, and the hope is for him to do the same.

Not only that, but Spurs would unlikely be able to recoup all of the £65million they paid for the 23-year-old if they were to sell him.

And they would also have to pay up or come up with a deal to settle the remaining five years of his six-year, £130,000-a-week contract.

Earlier this month Mourinho insisted Ndombele could follow the example of Luka Modric at Real Madrid as an example.

The Croatia international, who was signed by the Portuguese, has gone on to become one of the best midfielders in the world at the Bernabeu.

But life in Madrid did not go well for him and he was voted La Liga’s worst signing after joining from Spurs in 2012.

Ndombele joined with a big reputation after several top classes performances in France.
