Chelsea fans were left gushing over new signing Timo Werner as the striker’s first training session was shown on YouTube, with one even comparing him to Premier League legend Alan Shearer.
Germany international Werner has spent his first week with the Blues as they gear up for the FA Cup final.
And some clips of his early work on the training ground made it onto the club’s YouTube channel.
The 24-year-old was shown completing some individual passing and shooting drills at the Cobham training centre.
But that was enough for fans to judge that he will be a huge hit at Stamford Bridge, even judging him to be better than the Premier League’s top scorer of all-time.
“Werner is like a more quicker more technical alan shearer, guna be amazing honestly,” one commented on the video.
A second added: “Timo Werner is gonna be Top Score next Season.”
“Werner's accuracy is deadly hope he I'll be there when Chelsea lifts the fa cup,” an optimistic third added.
While a rival fan wrote: “I’m a man utd fan, and boy am I jealous of werner. What a signing you guys have got on your hands there!”
“Can't wait to see Werner and Ziyech playing,” another added.
A sixth advised: “Werner looks stunning in blue. Train hard lad and destroy teams next season.”
“Look at Timo Werner man, so inspirational,” a seventh admired.
Olivier Giroud has been Frank Lampard’s main man up front since the restart, but the Frenchman knows his place is in serious jeopardy for next season following Werner’s arrival.
“Werner’s arrival is an additional motivation and it was inevitable that the club recruit a striker,” he said.
“Chelsea are a great club, which spends money to strengthen the team, and I was expecting someone to come. With Ziyech and Werner, Chelsea will try to be more competitive.
“If you had told me that it was a player of my profile who was coming, I would have been worried. It is not.
