Arsenal are not yet out of the race to sign both Thomas Partey and Lyon playmaker Houssem Aouar, who could follow the likes of Gabriel Magalhaes, Willian and Dani Ceballos in joining the Gunners this summer.

Liverpool are yet to get a deal for Bayern Munich ace Thiago Alcantara, but they could be forced into a move after informing Barcelona of their asking price for Dutch midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum.

Manchester United, meanwhile are still interested in RB Leipzig's Dayot Upamecano but may have to wait until next summer to get the deal done as they consider their financial options.

Keep up to date with all the latest transfer gossip below.

Marcos Rojo impresses Ole

Marcos Rojo could be handed a Manchester United lifeline by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Despite returning on loan to his native Argentina with Estudiantes back in January, the defender seems determined to get his Premier League career back on track this season.

The 30-year-old has not been considered as a possible partner for Harry Maguire in recent months, and is in the same boat at Chris Smalling and Phil Jones.

However, the former Sporting man might have boosted his way up the pecking order of late thanks to this extra effort at Carrington which has included double training sessions.

ESPN have reported that Rojo has been staying late for extra training, and has done so every day since he returned to Manchester from Argentina earlier in the summer - leaving his manager impressed.

Arsenal target Thomas Partey sends transfer hint

Thomas Partey might have hinted that he has an interest in Arsenal.

The 27-year-old Atletico Madrid midfielder has spoke about his desire to play in the Premier League in the past, and was reportedly in contact with the Gunners earlier in the year.

The Ghana international has now captured the interest of fans by liking a tweet sent out earlier this week.

Goal published a tweet which stated: "Thomas Partey is going to be a star."

And one follower, who happened to be an Arsenal fan, said: "Going to be? He's already a star."

That response was then liked by Partey himself, in what could foreshadow a move to the Emirates.

Neville demand

Gary Neville has demanded three more signings at Manchester United after the arrival of Donny van de Beek.

Speaking to the Webby and O’Neill YouTube channel, Neville said: "I think the left-back area is important because Luke [Shaw] has had injury problems.

"I think centre-back is critical and I do think at least one forward is important. I still think we need three or four signings.

"I’ve got a feeling they [the Manchester United board] are on it and are just not getting them over the line quite as quickly as they’d want."

Neymar and Willian on Silva to Chelsea

Neymar and Willian were both reportedly supportive of Thiago Silva’s decision to join Chelsea this summer.

Silva signed a one-year deal at Stamford Bridge despite interest from AC Milan and a new contract offer from Ligue 1 giants PSG.

The Telegraph claim the 35-year-old spoke with his Brazilian compatriots Neymar and Willian before making his decision.

It’s reported that Neymar was 'remarkably clear' and urged Silva to join Lampard’s Chelsea.

The Telegraph add that Neymar advised his former PSG team-mate that he would regret not taking up the challenge if he were to turn it down.

James Rodriguez vow

James Rodriguez has vowed to rediscover his best form and bring entertaining football to Everton after finally completing his move to Merseyside.

He said: “I’ve come here to try to improve, to get better.

“I’ve also come here to help the team to win, to play good football – entertaining football.

“I am really, really happy to be at this great club, a club with so much history, and here with a manager who knows me really well.

“I’m looking forward to achieving great things here – and winning things, which is what everyone’s aim is.

“I’m convinced, with Carlo and his technical staff, we can achieve big things and one of the big reasons [I signed] was the presence of Carlo Ancelotti.

“I’m a winner, I’m a real winner."

'Perfect' Thiago time

Liverpool have been told that this is the perfect time to sign Thiago Alcantara from Bayern Munich.

That is the opinion of Graeme Souness, who told The Times: "The perfect time to sign players is when they do not have to be an instant hit but can be gradually introduced.

"Thiago Alcantara, the Bayern Munich midfielder, would be perfect because he works his socks off but is also gifted technically.

"He is 29, but he still has a couple of years, maybe three, at the highest level left in him."

City 'avoid' Napoli

Manchester City are still hoping to sign Kalidou Koulibaly in a £75m deal - without having any direct contact with his club Napoli.

Pep Guardiola has made the Senegal international one of his main transfer targets this summer and remains determined to lure him to the Etihad.

But there is bad blood between the two clubs that is making the deal take longer to complete.

The ill-feeling goes back to 2018 when City were on the verge of landing Napoli midfielder Jorginho, only for the Serie A side to perform a U-turn and sell him to Chelsea instead.

Etihad bosses were left seething and have still not forgiven their rivals.

And ESPN have reported that the Foxes want a meeting with Gabigol's representatives, who is priced at €60m [£53.8m] - but could be available for €32m [£28.7m].

Barcelona are set to offload midfielder Arturo Vidal to Inter as they start to clear out.

Ronald Koeman has been given a boost, with Lionel Messi committing to the club for the 2020/21 campaign.

But the Dutchman is set to move on several players, with Vidal high up the list.

And transfer pundit Fabrizio Romano has reported on Twitter that Inter are 'confident' of completing a deal, with a two-year contract 'almost ready'.

Why are Liverpool not spending?

Liverpool may have won their first ever Premier League trophy last season but they are not spending their winnings.

The Reds have only brought in Kostas Tsimikas this summer as they prepare for a title defence.

While Jurgen Klopp has only been linked with a move for Bayern Munich's Thiago Alcantara since then.

But financial expert Swiss Ramble has broken down the numbers behind Liverpool's frugal summer.

Darren Fletcher on Van de Beek at Man Utd

He's a top-class player and I think he's a fantastic signing. For somebody at his age, for that price, I think it's a no-brainer.

I saw him during Ajax's run to the Champions League semi-finals in 2019 he was probably one of the catalysts for that.

What I like about him is his flexibility in midfield. He understands when he needs to be a no.10 and what he has to do and he understands when he has to be a box-to-box midfielder. He's got that Ajax upbringing in him and is a cultured footballer.

I just think he's a great addition and he seems like a great guy as well, given the way he's been treated since leaving Ajax and how everyone has spoken about him.

There's nothing better than having players in your team that are top players but good people as well. It definitely goes a long way.

Man Utd's shock Bale interest

Real Madrid are reportedly hoping that Manchester United’s interest in Gareth Bale will lead to them making a bid for the winger.

Bale has been out of favour at Real for some time now, and further sparked talk of leaving the club when he openly criticised how they have handled his situation.

Now, Spanish outlet Marca have reported that United are keen to offer the 31-year-old a way out of the Bernabeu.

Real would be very open to selling him for a fee, with Zinedine Zidane and Bale set for showdown talks about his future at the club.

Liverpool quietness explained

The reason for Liverpool’s lack of transfer business this summer can be explained by some of Jurgen Klopp’s comments from last season.

Greek left-back Konstantinos Tsimikas has been Klopp’s only addition this summer, arriving for £11m from Olympiacos.

“The solution cannot be to have a much bigger squad for the specific moment and then realise you cannot use all the players,” Klopp said a couple of months ago.

“These players can only play the football they play because they know they are needed.

“They are all human beings and nobody can be held back for a year and then on the last day of the year be told, ‘Now we need you.’”

One more Chelsea signing?

Chelsea are prepared to finish their spending spree this summer once they have a new goalkeeper signed, sealed and delivered.

The Blues are chasing Rennes shot-stopper Edouard Mendy and could sign him for as little as £18m, though he club have other options.

Frank Lampard has been busy this summer, already making six signings, with Declan Rice believed to be on Chelsea’s radar.

Though the Evening Standard claim Chelsea’s spending will end after they land a goalkeeper.

Mbappe’s hopes

PSG star Kylian Mbappe has acknowledged that the Ligue 1 giants need to strengthen if they are to break their Champions League hoodoo.

"Of course I am optimistic that we will win the Champions League,” Mbappe told Telefoot. “We have to because, if we don't believe it, no one is going to believe it for us.

"It's football and you have to get over it. Lots of teams lost a final and won the year after.

“Obviously, PSG grew up with this final. Before, we had this block of the quarter-finals, now we broke that.

"You have to recruit well, you have to buy players. I hope we will have good recruits and that we can restart the season with the aim of doing better."

Kylian Mbappe is yet to win the Champions League

Newcastle done deal

Newcastle have confirmed the signing of Callum Wilson with the striker joining from Bournemouth on a four-year deal.

Wilson said: "From the minute I knew that Newcastle were interested, it was definitely something that appealed to me.

"It's a massive club with great history. Along the years, they've had great strikers so if I can emulate half of what they've done, I'd like to attempt that.

"I believe in my ability as a player. As a striker I think it's important to set yourself goals long term and short term, and I'm hoping to achieve them.”

Man Utd’s Ben Chilwell decision

Manchester United reportedly dropped their interest in new Chelsea left-back Ben Chilwell because of the emergence of Brandon Williams.

England international Chilwell joined Chelsea last month for a handsome £50m after much talk about him leaving Leicester.

United were thought to be one of the club’s eyeing a move for the 23-year-old.

But the MEN claim that the Red Devils called off their pursuit of Chilwell last November as they no longer felt like they needed to strengthen in that position.

The report suggests that United felt they had a more than adequate back up option in Williams to then-first choice left-back Luke Shaw.
