It's Transfer Deadline day and it's set to be a busy one with a number of the Premier League's top clubs involved.
Manchester United are yet to get a deal done for Jadon Sancho and a transfer looks unlikely now. Borussia Dortmund are standing firm that United missed their August 10 deadline - so who could pose as a late back-up option to the Red Devils?
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side have secured a deal for Porto left-back Alex Telles and are expected to confirm the arrival of Edinson Cavani.
Arsenal now look like missing out on Houssem Aouar but bringing in Atletico Madrid's Thomas Partey could be a viable option.
As for Chelsea and Liverpool it's more about departures. Both clubs have invested well this summer and could do with loaning or selling a few to trim the fat.

Manchester United have confirmed the signing of Facundo Pellistri, taking their deadline day haul to five.
Pellistri joins on a five-year deal and will fly to England in the coming days.
“To join a club with the history of Manchester United is a dream come true," the teenager told United's official website.
"I have learnt a lot at Penarol and I would like to thank them for everything they have done for me.
"To have the confidence of the manager is an amazing feeling and I know that working with him will be perfect for my development.
“I am coming into a squad full of great players who I will learn from every day.
"Everyone knows that Manchester United is a club that gives young players an opportunity and I am ready to work hard every day to earn those chances and prove myself in England.”
Partey to Arsenal is DONE
The Gunners waited until the 11th hour to spring into action, informing the La Liga outfit of their interest earlier in the day.
Partey has been a long-term target for Arsenal but his €50m (£45m) release clause was deemed to hefty in recent months.
Mikel Arteta's side wanted to drive the Ghanian's price tag down but were met with consistent resistance from Atletico.
Arsenal changed their stance, coughed up the required cash and landed the 27-year-old right before the summer transfer window slammed shut.
Okay, there seems to be one part of the deal.
Atletico Madrid have confirmed the arrival of Lucas Torreira from the Gunners, also announcing that Arsenal have paid the release clause of Thomas Partey.
Torreira makes the switch on a seaosn-long loan.
Transfer window slams shut(ish)
That's the transfer window officially shut, but it doesn't mean there won't be more annoucements.
Still awaiting official confirmation from Arsenal that Thomas Partey has signed...
Leeds confirm Raphinha
Leeds United have sealed the signing of Rennes winger Raphinha, subject to international clearance.
The 23-year-old has joined the club for an undisclosed fee from the Ligue 1 side and has penned a four-year deal at Elland Road.
He becomes the club’s 13th signing of the transfer window and will wear the No. 18 shirt.
Walcott is a Saint again
Theo Walcott has returned to Southampton, joining the Saints on loan from Everton.
Walcott began his career on the south coast before heading to Arsenal and then to Goodison Park.
But he’s now back where he started, joining Ralph Hasenhuttl’s men on a loan deal until the end of theseason.
Edinson Cavani has been confirmed as a Manchester United player after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer signed the striker on transfer deadline day.
The Uruguayan international joined the Red Devils on a free transfer, having left Paris-Saint Germain this summer after his contract expired at the Parc des Princes.
One of the most experienced strikers in European football, 33-year-old Cavani scored 200 goals in 301 games during seven seasons with the French side, helping them to six Ligue 1 titles.
Arsenal fans went into meltdown on transfer deadline day after one supporter posted details of a flight from Lyon to London.
Lyon star Houssem Aouar has been linked with a move from the Ligue 1 side to the Gunners though a deal appeared dead following a deadline from the French outfit.
That was for Friday but Arsenal fans were still hopeful a deal could be done as the clock ticked nearer to 11pm on Monday.
Memphis Depay’s future was plunged into doubt with Barcelona having been interested in the Dutch star. And fans thought that could also see Aouar depart Lyon.
And once a plane making the trip from the French city to the English capital was spotted, Gunners supporters were sent into a frenzy.
One put: “The scenes when Arsenal announce Aouar and Partey together…”
Another added: “I need Aouar on the arsenal man, one of my fav players on earth rn”.
And a third posted: “If Don Edu gets a deal for Aouar done tonight he may just deserve a statue outside the Emirates.”
Man Utd done deal!
And it’s not Edinson Cavani (yet).
The Red Devils have confirmed the signing of Amad Diallo with the Atalanta star set to make the switch in January.
Diallo, 18, scored on his Serie A debut in the first of three first-team appearances last season.
Poch to Old Trafford?
Slightly different transfer news, this time for managers…
Manchester United have sounded out Mauricio Pochettino about him replacing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as boss.
Senior club figures have made contact with Pochettino's camp - and the Argentine is keen to make United his next job as he looks to get back into management.
Solskjaer appears to be on borrowed time at United following a woeful start to the new season that sank to a new low with Sunday's 6-1 home thrashing by Tottenham.
Daily Star Sport understands United executive vice chairman Ed Woodward is not prepared to sack the Norwegian in the current international break.
But he wants to see a dramatic improvement in performances and results when the Premier League season resumes.
Guendouzi's dig at Arteta
Arsenal midfielder Matteo Guendouzi has appeared to aim a subtle dig at Gunners boss Mikel Arteta following his loan move to Hertha Berlin.
Guendouzi has signed for the Bundesliga outfit for the rest of the season having been frozen out by Arteta.
It came following a post-game incident in June's defeat at Brighton with Guendouzi having not been selected in a match-day squad since.
The French star had been a key player during the early months of Arteta’s tenure with the boss noticeably working with the midfielder.
But, following months without action, Guendouzi took a sly dig at Arteta with a post on social media following his move.
He wrote: “Excited to be back on the pitch and defend the colors of Hertha BSC! Let’s go!”
Sergio Romero's wife is not happy
Sergio Romero’s wife Eliana Guercio has hit out at Manchester United with the goalkeeper set to stay at the Premier League club.
Romero has fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford and is now third-choice shot-stopper under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
David de Gea and Dean Henderson are both ahead of the Argentine, who has regularly performed well when required by United.
Everton were in talks with the Red Devils over a loan move for Romero on transfer deadline day, though a deal did not materialise.
And now Guercio has hit out at the club, where Romero has been since 2015, on social media.
Chris Smalling has got the move he wanted and completed his permanent switch to AS Roma.
The Manchester United defender has cost the Italian outfit €20m, with €15m being paid up front and a further €5m in add ons.
Aouar's Arsenal response
Houssem Aouar has responded to an Arsenal fan on Instagram after the club failed in their transfer pursuit of the Lyon midfielder.
The Frenchman was linked with a north London move throughout the transfer window after guiding his side to the Champions League semi-finals.
But Mikel Arteta’s side missed a deadline to complete the deal last Friday, leading Lyon to confirm that the 22-year-old would be staying this year.
Sharing a screen grab on Twitter, one Arsenal supporter wrote to Aouar with: “We need you here in Arsenal broooo.”
And the Frenchman responded by liking the message and simply replying “hahaha bro” with two 100 emojis and a laughing face.
Solskjaer on Telles
Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has earmarked new signing Alex Telles as a "fighter and a winner" who will improve the team.
United have now confirmed the signing of the Brazilian left-back from Porto for a fee of around £17m, putting pen to paper on a four-year deal with an option of a further year.
"First and foremost, I welcome Alex to United," Solskjaer told the club's official website. "He is a player we have been tracking for some time and his performances over the past few years are exactly what we are looking for.
"He is a fighter and a winner and will add real determination and competition to the squad.
"Alex has the qualities, both as a player and as a person, that we want here at Manchester United."
Barcelona unwilling to pay asking price for Garcia
It has been a quiet day at Manchester City, who are digging their heels in over highly-rated defender Eric Garcia, writes Jeremy Cross.
Barcelona want to sign the Spanish international and Garcia is equally desperate to return to his former club.
But the Catalan giants have been reluctant to meet City's €30m asking price and seen several bids rejected.
City boss Pep Guardiola rates Garcia highly and wants to keep him, so unless Barca stump up the fee being asked for, he might well get his wish.
Garcia has been offered a new and improved deal at the Etihad, but has refused to sign it.
Cavani to take No. 7 shirt at Man Utd
Manchester United fans are not happy with reports that Edinson Cavani will take the No. 7 shirt at Old Trafford.
Cavani is expected to be confirmed as a Red Devils player before tonight’s 11pm transfer deadline having left PSG this summer.
United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been eager to improve his attacking options and been heavily linked with a move for Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho.
Many had hoped Sancho would take the iconic No. 7 at United were he to join, following the likes of Eric Cantona, David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Though Sky Sports have reported that Cavani could take the shirt with the Uruguayan set to sign a two-year deal at the Premier League giants.
Roma and Man Utd agree Smalling fee
Chris Smalling's hopes of securing a permanent move to Roma have been lifted, writes Jeremy Cross.
It is understood Manchester United and Roma have agreed a fee in the region of €20m.
The Italian giants will pay €15m up front with a further €5m in add ons.
Smalling spent last season with the Serie A outfit and was impressive. He returned to United and has spent the past few weeks training alone after not being involved with the first team squad.
Covid-19 impacting Deadline Day
The time has ticked past 6pm and there has been just one deal involving a player coming from abroad and into the Premier League, writes Jeremy Cross.
The feeling is that the impact of Covid-19 has slowed down the summer transfer window to a snail's pace due to the fact clubs are reluctant or unable to spend huge sums on new signings.
There appears to be no finances around Europe.
The window looks like being made up of loan deals and short-term options.
To make matters worse, some players are reluctant to move clubs and switch countries due to the fear of getting Covid-19.
The biggest and best players tend to move in the summer transfer window, but there is just no market for them this time round.
DONE DEAL: Alex Telles joins Man Utd
Manchester United have completed the signing of Brazil defender Alex Telles.
Telles, 27, has joined the Red Devils from Portuguese champions Porto after agreeing a £17million fee.
The left-back has penned a five-year contract with United, who were desperate to bring in defensive reinforcements before the transfer window closes at 11pm.
DONE DEAL: Tiemoue Bakayoko joins Napoli on loan
Chelsea midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko has completed a loan move to Napoli where he will link up with manager Gennaro Gattuso again.
Man Utd set to confirm Telles and Cavani signings
Manchester United will confirm the signing of Porto defender Alex Telles in the next hour, writes Jeremy Cross.
United have agreed a fee of £17m for the full back, who has signed a five year deal at Old Trafford after passing a medical.
Those wanting to see Edinson Cavani confirmed, however, will have longer to wait.
The Uruguayan has passed his medical but there has been a slight delay in sorting out the required paperwork.
United don't envisage any major problems though and he will complete the free transfer well before the transfer deadline.
DONE DEAL: Matteo Guendouzi joins Hertha Berlin on loan
Arsenal midfielder Matteo Guendouzi has completed a season-long loan move to Hertha Berlin.
In a statement, Arsenal said: "The France Under-21 international has made 82 appearances for us since joining from French side Lorient in summer 2018.
"Matteo started his career at Paris Saint-Germain’s academy before joining Lorient. He went straight into our first-team squad when he joined us, with only three players making more appearances than Matteo in his debut season of 2018/19.
"Everyone at Arsenal wishes Matteo well for the season."
Sarr to Man Utd latest
Manchester United could force through a deal for Watford forward Ismaila Sarr before the end of transfer deadline day due to a squad registration issue.
The Red Devils emerged as an interested party in the Senegalese international after Liverpool’s interest cooled due to the arrival of Diogo Jota for £45m.
After disappointment in their pursuits of Jadon Sancho and Gareth Bale, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has not given up the chase on a winger.
And Daily Star Sport understands that United are continuing to push Watford to let the forward go.
Solskjaer’s side have offered a season-long loan deal with a £45m option to buy.
UEFA have given the 32 teams until October 6 to register their squads for this year’s tournament, with Solskjaer’s side draw in Group H with PSG, RB Leipzig and Istanbul Basaksehir.
United could wait 11 more days to sign Sarr from Championship side Watford as the domestic transfer deadline ends on October 16.
But that would be too late to register the man who scored six goals in his Premier League season for Europe’s elite tournament, forcing them to make a move today.
How will Arsenal line up with Partey?
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta's confidence in the club's transfer negotiators is finally set to be rewarded after they made a last-gasp move to sign Thomas Partey.
Short on funds, the Gunners appeared unlikely to be able to pay the £45million release clause in Partey's Atletico Madrid contract.
But reports in Spain suggest Arsenal have made contact with La Liga officials to inform them of their intention to buy Partey out of his deal.
Should Arsenal finalise a deal before the 11pm deadline, they will be capturing one of Europe's best defensive midfielders and a key figure in Diego Simeone's side at Atletico.
Partey will be an instant upgrade on the options currently available to Arteta.
And Daily Star Sport takes a look at what Arteta's best starting XI could look like after the international break.
Torreira deal held up
Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira is set to join Atletico Madrid on loan before the window slams shut but the deal has been held up.
Torreira is already in Spain and has reportedly passed his medical but, according to Spanish outlet Marca, the move has been delayed by La Liga's financial rules.
The report claims Atletico need to offload a player in order to bring in Torreira, with Thomas Lemar and Hector Herrera linked with exits.
However, neither player has departed yet and the move could end up being dependent on Arsenal's late bid to sign midfielder Thomas Partey from Atletico.
Watford reject Man Utd's Sarr offer
Watford have rejected an approach from Manchester United to sign Ismaila Sarr on a season-long loan, writes Jeremy Cross.
United want to take him for 12 months, but the Hornets would prefer to sell the Senegal winger for around £25m.
Dembele to Man Utd still on
Manchester United might not be prepared to give up on Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele just yet, writes Jeremy Cross.
United would like to take him on a season-long loan, but Barca are insisting on a permanent fee being written into the deal for the English club to make the move permanent next summer.
United are reluctant to commit to this, but appear to be pulling out all the stops to still land the Frenchman on a temporary deal.
It is understood United are considering paying Barca a loan fee for Dembele as well as covering his annual wages.
Barca still want a permanent deal, though and talks are ongoing. Dembele, meanwhile, missed training this morning.
Telles deal delayed
Alex Telles’ transfer to Manchester United was reportedly delayed over the weekend due to technical issues with a private jet.
United have been linked with Telles for the past few weeks and are now trying to secure a deal as the clock ticks towards the 11pm deadline.
But it seems a move could have been completed over the weekend and perhaps even before the Red Devils were thrashed 6-1 by Tottenham at Old Trafford.
Portuguese outlet Record claim that Telles took a private jet to Manchester over the weekend but was forced to return to Portugal due to technical issues with the plane.
