Donny van de Beek insists he is happy to remain an Ajax player next season amid reports linking the midfielder with a move to Manchester United.
Van de Beek has produced a string of impressive displays for Ajax over the past few years, most notably in their inspired run to the 2018/19 Champions League semi-finals.
As a result, the playmaker is now attracting attention from some of the biggest clubs in European football, with Ajax chief Edwin van der Sar saying back in June: “It’s clear that clubs like Real Madrid and United are showing interest in Donny van de Beek.”
According to Manchester Evening News , Van de Beek is of interest to United this summer, although he is not a priority target.
Madrid are also believed to be on the hunt for a new midfield general to replace the ageing Luka Modric.
But amid speculation over his future, Van de Beek has revealed he would be prepared to remain at Ajax next season.
“It is very messy, in any case a very messy period in terms of transfers,” the 23-year-old told Fox Sports .
“Nothing is certain yet. I am still a player of Ajax and I am still proud to be there.
“If there had not been the coronavirus, it might have been different now. There is no clarity now and we have to wait and see how it turns out.
“I’m still here and after all these years I still have a lot of fun.
“If I also play at Ajax next season, I still have a lot of fun. You won't hear me complaining.”
Van de Beek is not the only man being linked with a summer move to United, nonetheless.

Reports suggest the Red Devils have identified Jadon Sancho as their top transfer target, although they have missed Borussia Dortmund’s deadline of August 10 to wrap up the deal.
Dortmund are said to be demanding £100million for the England international, who registered 20 goals and as many assists in the 2019/20 campaign.
