Grounded, the new 'Honey I Shrunk The Kids-esk' survival game from Obsidian Entertainment is having a fantastic start having launched on Steam Early Access and Xbox Game Preview yesterday.
As a reminder, players are effectively trialing a non-final version of the game. Naturally, there will be some bugs (zing) but that's the price you pay.
We saw reports last night of the game flying up the Steam best-sellers charts.
But checking again this morning, new information from @Benjisales, an Independent Video Game Industry Analyst has really hit home just how well received the game has been.
Posting on Twitter, Benjisales said:
"Grounded is now the #1 best selling game in the World on Steam and the #2 most watched game on Twitch on its launch day"
In an era of Fortnite, Apex Legends, Call of Duty Warzone and so many more games which routinely dominate Twitch most wanted, it's great to see Xbox's new exclusive doing so well.
Especially when that new game by a relatively small Obsidian team is so different from what the studio is known for previously.
Responses to the game have been relatively positive from what we've seen (except for those freaking out over giant spiders) and for a game in early access, it looks pretty well polished too.
Could Xbox have themselves another future Sea of Thieves hit on their hands? Here's hoping!
