Now Android users are being warned about 56 “dangerous” apps that could damage your smartphone.
Research from Check Point found that the apps in question contain a malware called Tekya.
Almost one million people have downloaded the malicious software, which are designed to trick people into clicking on them.
The malware can throttle the performance of your smartphone and deplete the battery.
Even more worrying is the fact that 24 of the infected apps were aimed at children.
Further to this, 32 were utility apps, which included cooking, translating and calculator apps.
Check Point researchers explained their findings in a blog: “With the goal of committing mobile ad fraud, the malware imitates the user’s actions in order to click ads and banners from agencies like Google’s AdMob, AppLovin’, Facebook and Unity.”

With nearly three million apps available on the Google Play Store, it’s important to be vigilant and safe.
With hundreds of new apps being uploaded daily, it’s “difficult to check that every single app is safe”, says the blog.
It continues: “Thus, users cannot reply on Google Play’s security measures alone to ensure their devices are protected.”
If you do have an infected app on your smartphone, you should uninstall it immediately.
You should also consider installing a security solution to prevent future infections, and making sure your device Operation System and Applications are the latest version.
If you use an Android device, you are going to want to check if you have any of the infected apps.
Google has now removed the apps from the Google Play Store, but if you already have them you need to delete them.
