Kate Garraway told fans she was giving an update on her husband Derek Draper's condition on Good Morning Britain on Monday morning.

The ITV star took to her Instagram account tonight to update fans.

Kate also told her followers that fellow I'm A Celeb star Caitlyn Jenner will be on the show tomorrow.

Sharing a photo of her and Caitlyn, she wrote: "My first breakfast on leaving the #jungle with @caitlynjenner - back then she joked when she next came on @gmb I would be the only interviewer she’s ever showered with!

"She’s on @gmb live tomorrow & we can’t even be in the same room let alone shower together!

"Can’t wait to catch up with her though & find out what’s going on in her world & hear her take on her son in law #kanyewest.

Mentioning Derek, Kate added: "Plus of course all the days news & an update on Derek. Join me & @benshephardofficial tomorrow at 6 on @itv."

Doctors have warned Kate that Derek may never recover from the damage done to his body by Covid-19

During the interview, Kate said Derek had undergone a "plasma exchange".

She said: "Derek has had plasma exchange... it just seems like something that people could do to help?"

Dr Amir agreed a plasma exchange could be a helpful way to partake in the fight against coronavirus, adding that the idea had been around for a "long, long time".

He said: "The government are asking people who have been found positive to donate their plasma."

Comparing the UK to the US, Kate wondered: "The doctors that I was speaking to in America were doing it regularly [for months]... why were we slow to do this?"

Coronavirus has wreaked havoc on Derek's internal organs

Dr Amir explained the NHS lacked the technology and resources and resources to take blood samples in the early days of Covid, before adding: "I agree with you, it should have been used earlier."

Derek, 52, was admitted to hospital with coronavirus back in March, and though he no longer has the virus, it has wreaked havoc on his internal organs.

Doctors have warned Kate that Derek may never recover from the damage done to his body by Covid-19.

Kate revealed earlier this month her last visit with Derek was a "tough" and said she was "desperate for him to take a step forward" but had been told by doctors to be grateful that her husband had not taken a "step back".
