I'm A Celebrity winner Charlie Brooks did not look happy as she was seen returning to her Surrey home from Wales after ITV bosses allegedly sent her home.

EastEnders icon Charlie, 39, won the series back in 2012, and was reportedly expecting to make an appearance on this year's show until show bosses scrapped the idea.

She is believed to have self-isolated for two weeks in preparation for the appearance, along with former stars such as Joey Essex, Vicky Pattison.

However, Charlie was seen outside her home with a large suitcase as she wheeled it back into her home, wearing a bright yellow jumper.

The mum-of-one did not look impressed as she was helped with her luggage, which included a guitar that looked identical to the one she was seen leaving with in early November.

According to The Sun, Charlie was sent home alongside Joey Essex, Joe Swash and Vicky Pattison, who were all lined up for a surprise appearance.

However, a source told them that the reason behind the stars suddenly being sent home remained a mystery.

They said: "It was never clear exactly what role the four stars would play on the series, but it's obvious they'd been chosen as they were among the most popular former contestants," a source told the paper.

Charlie had been scheduled to appear on the 2020 series after winning in 2012

"They were being prepared through isolation to ensure there was no risk of them bringing coronavirus on to the set and infecting the other celebrities or the crew and causing chaos."

Charlie's return comes nearly two weeks after The Sun claimed she was heading over to north Wales for the 2020 appearance.

At the time, she was seen looking very pleased as she left her home with a pair of Hunter wellies in her hands.

It has also been reported that the four former stars have been kept on stand-by for the duration of the show, but hadn't been told what's in store for the appearance.

I'm A Celeb continues tonight at 9pm on ITV.
