Rochelle Homes took over the Friday show, presenting alongside a range of celeb hosts from Dermot O'Leary to Strictly Come Dancing star Ore Odbua.
However, with September right around the corner, the time has come for Phil and Holly to make their way back to the ITV studios.
Clearly feeling a little nostalgic about the past few weeks, Eamonn expressed: "Today is a very sad day."
Ruth added their time in the studios had flown, saying: "Happy Bank Holiday Monday, I hope you've got a day off.
"I'm at work. It's our last day of summer this morning for Eamonn and I. Gosh, that's gone so quickly!"
Over on Twitter, viewers made it clear they would miss waking up to Ruth and Eamonn on their screens, praising the duo's uplifting banter and charisma on the show.
One said: "Gutted it's the last show today love watching you both."
"Love when you two are on! The banter and bickering is hilarious," added a second.
And a third chimed: "You have both been amazing. Enjoy a well-deserved break after today x"
"You’ve served us well Ruth – even Mr Grumpy," joked a fourth.
Thankfully, Ruth and Eamonn will no doubt continue to make appearances on the occasional Friday episode, once they have enjoyed some relaxing time off.
This Morning airs on weekdays at 10am on ITV
