EastEnders fans were heartbroken as Jean Slater's cancer has come back on the soap.
The character has battled the illness in the past, but made a full recovery.
However, in tragic scenes at the end of Thursday's episode, Jean revealed her cancer was back.
It was her birthday as Jean filmed a video message, seemingly for her family.
She told them she didn't want treatment this time, as she wanted to choose how she spent her "last few months.
Jean said she didn't need a doctor to check she had cancer as she could "feel it".
She explained in the moving scenes: "The cancer is back."
"I know. I don't need tests and results to tell me. I can feel it", she continued.
Jean added: "So I'm giving myself the best birthday present ever. I don't want you to get cross, but I've decided to not have treatment this time.
"Don't get angry at me. I've thought about it and I can't, I can't, I can't go through all that again. I don't want to"
Jean said she was going to take a leaf out of her late boyfriend Daniel's book. He passed away from terminal cancer in heartbreaking scenes last year.
She said: "After all, all we really have is today and I want all my todays to be beautiful."
Jean added: "I just want to spend my last few months the way I choose. I love you all so very, very, very, much. I know you love me. So just let me do this, okay?"
Viewers were left devastated while watching the upsetting scenes, as they took to Twitter to share their heartbreak.
One said: "Jean is just breaking my heart. I love her so much".
While another penned: "If at any point they decide to kill Jean off, I'm going to do a scriptwriting course, get a job at EastEnders and then bring her back to life in the very first episode I write.
"I'm sure the audience will accept whatever plot I come up with to have Jean back."
'OMG, please don’t kill Jean off", added a third viewer with three crying emojis.
EastEnders continues tomorrow at 8pm on BBC One.
