EastEnders viewers were left in shocking during the BBC soap tonight after Ian Beale was brutally attacked.

While walking across Albert Square in this evening's episode the iconic character bumped into a number of his enemies.

He first bumped into Rainie Cross and Stuart Highway who recenlty lost out on their chance to have a child after he talked Tiffany Butcher, 17, out of carrying their child.

He also strolled into Mick Carter's sister Tina and the pair argued over the Queen Vic. With Ian calling her family "pathetic" and saying they could "have this Vic over his dead body".

She strolled up to him and said: "You could own the square and people still hate you."

Ian Beale was attacked in tonights episode of EastEnders but who did it?

Tina continued: "Your family hate you. Everyone hates you."

He replied: "What are you? You're 50 with a ponytail? You could go missing and nobody would notice."

She then rushed into his house and slammed the door behind her.

After this, the atmosphere and cinematography changed as a crime scene began to pan out which showed Ian laying face down on the floor surrounded by glass.

Scenes then showed half of Albert Square acting shifty

Scenes also showed Stuart burning a white shirt, Ian's son Bobby stressed in an alley way cracking his knuckles and his other son looking very regretful.

It also showed Tina with blood on her face as she washed her hands.

Ben Mitchel was also seen coming out of the Vic looking around.

His mother was seen opening the door looking heartbroken.

Max Branning was seen looking like his usual Albert Squaregangsta-self.

Which led fans to believe it may be Sharon as she wasn't shown and she was furious at him prior too.

Fans rushed to social media to predict that Sharon was the one who attacked Ian, as they wondered if she had finally found out Ian was responsible for Denny's death.

One fan wrote: "My moneys on Sharon for whacked Ian!"

Another added: "I think it’s Sharon and that’s why she wasn’t in the line up of suspects I think she new Ian killed Dennies and been plotting her revenge all this time."

A third chipped in: "It was Sharon then... finally heard the message on the phone clearly."

A fourth said: "Sharon did it."
