Emmerdale viewers have been left confused by Thursday night's episode after Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) asked Mandy Dingle (Lisa Riley) if she wanted to go clubbing with them.

Of course, nightclubs have been shut for months since the country went into the first lockdown from the coronavirus pandemic.

The ITV soap has been including scenes relating to the pandemic, with characters wearing masks and the first lockdown being mentioned on-screen.

However viewers were confused as to how the comment went unquestioned by the other characters.

One said: "Paddy clubs are not open!"

And another tweeted: "What clubs are open at the moment Marlon?"

Paddy was feeling sorry for himself after Chas (Lucy Pargeter) returned to the village without letting him know and turned to the bottle to distract himself.

But when Mandy got involved, it looked like things were going to take a turn for the worst as they reminisced on their marriage 20 years ago.

Paddy laughed: "Do you remember getting asked to leave my mate from uni's wedding because you couldn't stop laughing?

"Someone was trying to say grace but no-one could hear him because you were in the corner snorting away."

Mandy giggled: "I was crawling my way out on my hands and knees in pure disgrace."

Paddy reflected on the moment they shared, saying he'd never laughed like that with Chas before.

Mandy told him: "You didn't get it wrong with me, I managed to screw our marriage up on my own, took me a long time to realise it.

"I was so stubborn back then."

She went on: "You never deserved to be treated like that, me cheating on you made everyone realise I didn't deserve you. You're the first man who really loved me."

Paddy ended up sticking around at Mandy's – but could they fall into old habits and hook up?
