Emmerdale viewers have been left with their jaws on the floor after Laurel Thomas (Charlotte Bellamy) told her boyfriend Jai Sharma (Chris Bisson) her age.
Laurel had been feeling unwell and Jai suggested she could be pregnant, however she said that was unlikely considering she was 46.
However rather than being shocked at the baby news, which was confirmed previously, viewers have been left stunned by Laurel's age.
A number of Emmerdale fans took to Twitter to share their disbelief over the youthful villager.
One said: "F*** off is Laurel 46."
Another wrote: "Laurel is 46? Are we sure?"
A third tweeted: "No way is Laurel 46," along with a shocked face emoji.
Someone else said: "Laurel is 46, surely she isn't? I thought she was like 35-40."
In reality, actress Charlotte Bellamy is 47 years old – so she's actually playing younger than her actual age.
Viewers have been prepared for the start of this storyline, with show bosses revealing that it would be an incredibly difficult watch.
It was announced that Laurel and Jai would come to the decision when they are informed that the baby has Down's syndrome.
And while the upcoming storyline faced some ferocious backlash online, show producer Laura Shaw has urged viewers to tune in before making and decisions about it.
She said: "As a producer, I'm always nervous about any story that we produce to be honest, but definitely more so when you know that it's going to be quite contentious and people are going to have some really strong views. I suppose that's why it's such an important story to tell.
"What do I hope viewers will take away from it? I just hope they'll take away that what we've shown isn't about right or wrong. It isn't about whether you agree or not, it's just about people making really difficult decisions and they should be allowed to do that without living in fear of being judged or shamed.
"What you'll see in Jai and Laurel's case is how their decision affects their lives for years to come."
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays, on ITV
