Emmerdale teen Sarah Sugden's (Kate Hill) health troubles were brought up several times during Wednesday's episode of the soap.
The character finally came clean after she planted a bag of A-class drugs in the coat of newcomer to the ITV soap, Ethan Anderson (Emile John).
Sarah's mum Debbie used her daughter's traumatic past to try and convince Ethan not tell the police the truth.
Could her illnesses being brought up hint to her having a health setback in future episodes?
Sarah has had cancer in the past and needed a heart transplant last year.
The character nearly died, and has had weak lungs ever since.
Her mother Debbie Dingle mentioned her health in an attempt to justify her daughter's actions.
She said: "She’s not a bad kid, alright. She’s made a mistake. She’s been in and out of hospital her whole life.
"Have you got any idea what that’s like? Maybe that’s why she’s making such stupid decisions," she continued.
Sarah told her mum they couldn’t use her poor health as a get out jail card.
Ethan discussed the situation with his father Charles Anderson (Kevin Mathurin), asking him what he should do.
Sarah's health was brought up once again as he debated whether to tell the police about her guilty conscience.
He said: "I was wrongfully arrested.
"I've barely started my career as a solicitor and I'm having to explain a drug arrest and none of it is my fault.
"I did listen before. She's been ill, had it tough and I do feel for her but I don't get to give any excuses."
The case was closed due to lack of evidence, so Ethan didn't mention Sarah planting the drugs in his pocket.
He mentioned her health once again as he told the teenager: "What’s the point of putting your future at risk?
"What your mum said before about you being ill, must have been tough."
She replied: "Just being different from everyone else…the whole drugs thing, I was just trying to fit in."
Later, Sarah's mum Debbie mentioned her poor health again.
Al Chapman (Michael Wildman) was telling his mistress Debbie she should go back to Scotland with Sarah.
However, Debbie said she had to stay put in Emmerdale as her daughter still needed to attend the hospital for checkups.
Could the array of references to Sarah's health mean disaster is about to strike?
Emmerdale continues tomorrow at 7pm on ITV.
