Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid were thrilled to appear as though they were sitting next to each other on today’s Good Morning Britain, after months apart.

Clever crewmembers at ITV managed to doctor the camera angles to make it appear as though Piers and Susanna were sitting side-by-side, despite being over a metre apart in reality.

However, Piers confessed the clever hack hadn’t stopped the complaints from rolling in, as he blasted the "idiots" who suggested they weren’t socially distancing.

He moaned: "We’ve got the usual idiots saying ‘you’re not socially distancing’."

In pre-Covid times, hosts Piers and Susanna would have sat right beside each other, fitting in the same frame.

However, since the lockdown began, they were forced to sit at opposite sides of the studio, resulting in an awkward "split" on the screen.

Today’s show saw Susanna sit in front of Piers, allowing the camera crew to carefully angle the cameras to make for a satisfying illusion.

Susanna exclaimed: "We're back together!"

Piers laughed: "It looks like we're cheating and we’re breaking lockdown rules!"

Susanna messed around with her angles as Piers complained about her height

The co-stars then had a laugh playing with the camera angles, as they leaned from side-to-side to watch themselves disappear.

However, Piers soon found a fault with the doctored angles, as he accused Susanna of appearing taller than usual.

He said: "Can you lower your seat, this is a bit ridiculous."

Piers then fumed: "I’m taller than you!"

Piers admitted a few "idiots" had contacted the show to complain about social distancing

Bursting into peals of laughter, the camera crew lowered a giggling Susanna so her head was at the bottom of the shot, leaving Piers towering over her.

She replied: "Would that make you feel less emasculated?"
