Geordie duo Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly joked that this year's I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! stars won't be staying in luxury when they leave the castle this year.

Normally, eliminated celebrities stay in the swanky Palazzo Versace hotel in Australia, but due to the pandemic the show is being filmed in Wales this year.

And during the opening of Friday night's show, as the duo prepared to reveal the first elimination, they explained what they had to look forward to.

Dec joked that the first exit would be "whisked off to the static home next to Ant's" – as a running gag of the series has been that Ant is living in a caravan.

Seemingly loving his new digs, Ant responded: "Really? Well, it's actually better than Australia!"

While Ant and Dec didn't really give much of an insight into where eliminated celebrities will stay, fans have been speculating online.

One joked: "Normally the first one out spends two weeks in a 6-star hotel on the Gold Coast. This year they'll spend a week in a B&B in Llandudno."

Another wondered: "Do they just go home this year and no hotel or do they get a cheap B&B?"

A third tweeted: "Nah the celebs will go to a hotel in Conwy I should imagine."

Someone else asked: "Do the evicted celebs get to stay in a plush Welsh hotel or just get sent home because of Covid?"

While a fifth added: "Feel sorry for the people voted out on I'm A Celeb this year. Usually sent off to a fancy hotel in Australia when you leave the jungle. Not this year. I'm sure they'll enjoy the seven-night self-catering stay in Towyn Caravan Park though."

Whatever happens, it'll be a world away from the £1,800-per-night Palazzo Versace.

The plush hotel is located on Australia's Gold Coast, decorated with designer brand Versace furnishings.

It features a 63-metre pool, white sand beach as well as a spa and fitness centre.

Previously, viewers have seen eliminated celebrities tuck into mountains of room service after surviving on rice and beans for days too.
