Saira Khan has blasted the education sector, branding teachers "uninspiring" during a fired rant on Loose Women.
The panellist, 50, shared her views on her own experiences in the classroom, admitting that she has yet to meet a teacher who is "passionate".
With children heading back to school following their six-week summer break, the Loose Women ladies discussed their opinions on "the importance of inspiring teachers".
And Saira recalled her childhood, admitting teachers lack of drive made her feel "average".
Saira said: "I had nice teachers but I don't think there was a single teacher who inspired me to believe in myself. I felt that I was average my whole school life.
"I don't think I ever came across a teacher who had the passion to turn children's lives around."
Saira admitted that she doesn’t feel like people enter the profession for the great good, instead picking the career as a "lifestyle choice".
She continued: "I do feel if you really want to change a child's life you've got to want to be a teacher from the moment you were born and unfortunately many have entered it because it's a lifestyle choice and it's convenient to do that profession while they raise kids."
During her passionate monologue, the panellist called for "bad apples" among teachers to be "rooted out" to give children a better chance during their time at school.
Undeterred by her fellow co-stars views on the subject, the mum-of-two began talking over Jane Moore and Kaye Adams, as they looked to defend teachers.
But Saira's comments outraged viewers as many slammed the star for her "disgraceful" comments.
"Saira Khan you absolute disgrace. Pulling teachers down like that is a low blow even for you," one wrote.
Another added: "Absolutely disgusted with Saira and her attitude towards teachers and the profession. No wonder we have such a tough time with opinions like that."
While a third wrote: "Can't believe Saira's comments about teachers. I've had some bad ones but also good ones."
