Love Island 's Iain Stirling shut down Lorraine Kelly on today's Lorraine, as she dug for answers about his relationship.

When Lorraine wondered whether Iain had any plans to propose to his long-term girlfriend, Love Island presenter Laura Whitmore, anytime soon, he had a snappy response.

Iain quipped: “Lorraine this was not in the research chat. I expected better from you.”

Trying to ease any awkwardness, Lorraine went on to ask whether Iain had any plans to return to Love Island in the future, as the 2020 season was suspended.

Lorraine quizzed him about walking down the aisle with longterm flame Laura Whitmore

Love Island stars Iain and Laura reportedly met at an ITV party back in 2017, where they were introduced to one another by a mutual friend.

On their very first date, Laura said that Iain brought her to a comedy gig to watch his pals perform onstage.

Three years down the line, and it seems the lovebirds are the real deal – giving the other couples on Love Island some serious couple goals.

Iain said he "didn't expect" Lorraine would probe him about marriage

Later on today's show, Lorraine tried to bring up the subject of marriage again and joked that she would happily officiate their wedding ceremony.

Iain responded more graciously this time, and laughed: “We're gonna do it in Dundee, Lorraine, and you're going to officiate it.”

The Scottish funnyman appeared on the show to discuss his upcoming stint on Soccer Aid, lacing up his football boots to raise money for charity.

Laura and Iain have been dating for the past three years

Competing against international teams, Iain – and a bevvy of celebs – will take to the football pitch this weekend.

Joking about the team structure, Iain told Lorraine: "It's the rest of the world against England, although due to the corona travel restrictions, a lot of the rest of the world are Englishmen with grandparents that went on holiday in Switzerland once.

"But it's still lovely to have them as part of the team!"

Lorraine airs on weekdays at 9am on ITV.
