Netflix fans are already struggling to sleep due to The Haunting of Bly Manor's terrifying trailer.

The series will be released in October and acts as the second series in the Haunting horror franchise, after 2018's The Haunting of Hill House.

The trailer for the terrifying show has just been released, and excited fans are already saying they're suffering from "insomnia" after just a few clips.

In the two-minute trailer, a child called Flora, played by Amelia Bea Smith, can be seen standing by a lake, before playing with some toys in her room.

She goes to put a mask on something, with the doll seemingly coming to life later on in the teaser clip.

Viewers see Victoria Pedretti's character Dani, an American nanny, comforting some orphaned children after their parents' death.

She says: "I know what loss is. Your parents loved you so, so much. In a way they'll always be here."

Dani is victim to some haunting though as, later on, some mysterious hands appear around her waist as she's doing some washing up.

When she flinches and turns there is nobody there, apart from some other people eating at the dinner table.

Elsewhere, Mrs Grose (T'Nia Miller) appears terrified as she says: "It's going to sound strange, but I'm having somebody else's dream... the dead."

Rather menacingly, a voice says: "The people here... they're born here... they die here."

The series, loosely based on the novella The Turn of the Screw, has already terrified viewers – despite just two minutes of its nine-episode run being released.

On Twitter, one spooked fan said: "Well between the excitement and fear I'm not gonna be sleeping tonight – thanks Netflix."

Another said: "How is The Haunting of Bly Manor given me f***ing insomnia and it isn't even out yet?"

A third wrote: "Nightmare fuel."

Someone else commented: "Goodbye sleep, hello binge watch."

And a fifth added: "This looks so scary but I like it."

The Haunting of Bly Manor will be released October 9 on Netflix
