A guest on A Place In The Sun burst into tears when she told presenter Jonnie Irwin why she couldn’t make an offer on a two-bedroom property with a swimming pool.
Susan and her husband Fred were looking for a holiday home in Palma, Mallorca where they could stay for seven months of the year – with room for their four grandchildren to visit.
During today's episode of the Channel 4 show, Susan and Fred viewed several properties in the holiday hotspot.
Jimmie showed the pair a two-bedroom townhouse with a swimming pool which looked like it might have won the couple over.
Although Susan initially seemed to love it – she later had to wipe away tears.
Describing her issue with the home, Susan said: "The bedroom wasn’t big enough to fit two bunk beds in.
"Also, the view from that [room] just wasn’t great."
Looking unimpressed, Jonnie reminded Susan that she and Fred had a budget and perhaps her expectations were not realistic.
"I know I’m being really picky here," she says.
Firing back, Jonnie says: “I think you are!”
Susan said although they had to compromise, it’s "got to be right" and the view was non-negotiable.
"That was so nearly there," she said about the home.
Jonnie says: "This time next year that house will be worth even more, that’s the thing.
"You ain’t gonna beat that, I can say hand on heart, you are not going to beat that home.
"And then you might be sitting there thinking ‘I wish we’d made that compromise about the view with the second bedroom because now we’ve got to spend more money.'"
Susan starts to cry and wipes away the tears from her left eye.
Pulling herself together, she says: "I think we’re just totally confused at the moment.
"It’s been real up and down and we’ve learned so much, haven’t we?"
Fred and Susan decided not to commit to buying a home in Mallorca at this time.
