Supervet Noel Fitzpatrick saved the life of his own dog after it was run over by a van.

The TV star today revealed how his pet Keira had been hit at speed as they left his practice after work.

The dog was left with “significant internal organ damage” and a “badly fractured pelvis”. Noel and his team operated on her right away but she remains in a “critical condition”.

The 52-year-old shared a picture of his beloved border terrier to pay tribute to the “amazing” team who helped him.

He wrote: “Three weeks ago my little girl, Keira, was hit by a van as we were leaving the practice.

“It all happened so fast that I still find it hard to believe it happened at all. The Fitzfamily has come together as they do for all our patients, to fight for her and do our very best.

“I can’t thank them enough for everything they have done and are doing.

“I’m so grateful the entire team was on hand immediately and were able to get her help straight away.

“Their skill and dedication have undoubtedly saved her life so far. She has been in a critical state and the fear of losing my little companion has been overwhelming. Her outlook remains unknown. We hope, pray and keep the faith that she will be OK.”

He added: “I will bring a further update when the time is right.”
